BRAEFOOT'S GREAT ADVENTURE
The Great Adventure is a photo scavenger hunt around Saanich and the surrounding municipalities. In these times of uncertainty and isolation, we are learning that staying at home all the time can be very harmful to one's mental health. Braefoot's goal is to help by giving participants an opportunity to get outside and do something fun while still keeping safe within their core COVID bubbles. We are working closely with the Island Health Authority to ensure that the event stays within the COVID-19 protocols.

The public health officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, has said many times that we are combating two threats to public well-being. The first, of course, is COVID-19, and we are combating that through the orders put in place by Dr. Henry's office. The second, which stems from those orders, is the mental health of those who feel isolated due to the virus. We hope to help those people by putting on the Great Adventure.

Every year, the Braefoot Community Association gives away a number of Bursaries to deserving post-secondary students in our community. Recipients are those students registered in a post-secondary program who show leadership through service to the community. This year, the bursaries will be presented at the awards presentation at the end of the Great Adventure. Registration for the Great Adventure is by donation, with proceeds going towards our Student Bursaries, as well as our low-cost Summer Camp Programs.

The Great Adventure is done in teams of up to 6 people. We strongly recommend that groups consist of only those who are bubbled together. For added safety, each group only needs a photo from each location, there is no need to interact physically with anything. This will reduce the touchpoints during the event to just the members of each group.

The Great Adventure runs from Friday, November 27th at 4:00pm until Sunday, December 6th at 4:00pm. Following the conclusion of the scavenger hunt, the awards presentation will be a virtual event beginning at 7:00pm on Sunday night.

At 4:00pm on Friday, November 27th, the instructions will be sent out to everyone who registered. The instructions will include the all of the photo locations, as well as a couple of chances at bonus points. For each location, there will be one or more photos described. The more photos you take, the more points you will receive!

Before the event begins, there are bonus points available to each participating team. If you can get another team to sign up for the event, you will receive 2 points. To make sure you get the points, have the new team email admin@braefoot.ca with the team name they registered and your team name as the ones who recommended them. Teams can get a maximum of 4 bonus points this way.

To earn points for your team during the event, each photo must meet the following criteria:
-
The photo must duplicate the photo given in the instruction list
-
The photo must include your whole team (less a photographer if required)
-
The photo must be posted to social media with your Team Name in the description
-
When you post the photo, you must tag Braefoot and the business featured in the photo
-
For 1 bonus point, include #BraefootAdventure in your post

Each point you receive enters your team into a draw for our fabulous prizes. Prizes will be announced on social media leading up to the first day of the scavenger hunt. Don't miss out on your chance to join us for the Great Adventure!
